What happens after you pray to God?

You can pray in public or in private. You can pray standing or on your knees.

You now know that when you speak to God you pray to him. Prayer should be part of your daily to do list. Not because prayer is a chore or a hobby but it’s actually a privilege. It’s a privilege that the believer can pray to an all powerful and loving heavenly father. Nothing is too hard for him.

There is so much I can write about prayer but I will leave that to another day. But what I do want to share with you are the two sets of three.

The first set I want to encourage you with is found in Matthew 7:7–8:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

The first set of three are ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK

This scripture is about being persistent in your prayer life. That means everyday you will pray for whatever it is your praying for. It’s a don’t give up attitude. In agreement with God’s will he will answer your prayers. Ask the Lord, seek his will that aligns with his desires and then you knock for open doors.

I love Psalm 37:4

“Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

When you are daily delighting yourself in the Lord, his desires become your desires. To take delight means that our hearts truly find peace and fulfillment in God.

Prayer is consists of patience and timing. And thats okay because in our waiting God is working.

The last set of three are the 3 ways God answers our prayers.

  1. Yes — God answers your prayer by saying yes to you. This is the door opening for you. Great excitement fills the air as you share God’s blessing with others. When God says yes thank him knowing it was his will.
  2. No — God answers with a No. This can be tricky with number 3 if you're not in prayer or reading his word. But an evidence that God answered your prayer with a no is a closed door. Literally it can be a closed door to your face. But do not fret because even a No from God is a blessing because he knows whats best for you. It’s about perspective.
  3. Wait — God answers your prayer with a wait. This has to do with a desire God placed in your heart a while or a long time ago. A personal example: I remember when I was 18 years old I wanted to teach more often at church. I had the desire to teach young adults. I was capable of teaching the Bible but God had me wait 8 years later so I can teach.

Another example of waiting is when we are single waiting for our partner in life. Many single christians desire marriage and that is normal. But my encouragement to you coming from being single myself is be all in for Jesus. I’ll never forget when a friend told me to date Jesus. When we date Jesus we spend time with him, it’s a crazy thought but it fits so well for those that are single. Focus on your purpose, calling and ministry God has you in. Have fun with your friends and family. When it’s God’s timing he will bring a person right by your side.

Also for that person you are prayer for to be saved, don’t give up on praying. Pray for them everyday.

Lastly learn to be content in whatever season your in. Know that when you pray God is working behind the scenes. God bless you and never stay down.
