The Power of God in 2024

The story of a homeless lady that was healed by the power of God

It’s January 1st 2024 and I had just spent time with God in my secret place. I was praying and asking the Lord for guidance and direction for the year. I know I also prayed that anything I touch will be blessed. In a way I was praying for an annointing. I was praying by faith and for a move of God through my life this year.

It was around 2pm when I decided to go for a walk at my local park. I usually love to go for a prayer walk. It’s perhaps my favorite thing to do as I mix exercise and communion with God.

As I went around the park I noticed a homeless lady sitting next to a tree. I didn’t go up to her because I was focused on my walk. But I couldn’t get her off my mind, I couldn't just pray in the Spirit without going up to her and seeing how I can bless her.

As I was about to pass her again she screamed at me in a raspy voice,

“What time is it!?”

I stopped and looked over at her next to the tree, She was about 10 feet away from me. I told her the time, and then she began telling me about her life. How thankful she didn't get raped on New Years eve, how she got beat up not to long ago, and other problems I can’t recall. It was deep stuff.

I knew she needed someone to listen to her. I knew that my Spirit wanted me to stay because God was about to demonstrate his power.

I had a sense that she needed healing and before I can ask her If she had any pain anywhere she began moving a lot because of how much in pain her legs were in. I can see it on her face, she was telling the truth.

The Holy Spirit came upon me and gave me this confidence and I said,

“let me pray for God to heal you right now”

I bent over to meet her where she was at, sitting on the grass next to a tree. I put one hand on her leg and one on her shoulder. I asked on a scale of one to ten how much pain do you have, she said 14! So I began to pray in the name of Jesus. Then I ask “now what’s the pain level?” she said an 8! She was believing that God was healing her. I prayed again and she was feeling a pulsing run through her body from her spine to her legs. I told her that is the power of God working and tears began form in her eyes. Her pain went to a 4 and I took my hand off her leg and declared it “in the name of Jesus all pain is gone.” I told her “now get up and walk.” I wanted to see the pain leave her body completely.

She got up and she was completely healed! She had such a big smile run across her face. She told me her name, Olinka. I asked Olinka if she had accepted Jesus Christ in her heart and she said yes. I told her it was not I who healed her but Jesus was the one who did the healing. I was just an instrument, a vessel of God’s healing power running through me. Because I took a step of faith she was healed and her faith in God strengthened.

I was able to bless her with a warm meal, took her near a place in my city where she was staying at, prayed a blessing over her and we went our separate ways. This was an older lady around the age of 50 and she said she felt like a little girl again. Her heavenly Father provided for her.

Many of us don’t see the power of God flow through us because we don’t believe or take steps of faith. May we all change this year in 2024. Not only read about miracles in the Bible but live it out.

What happend through me was a taste of God’s power. I know there are countless stories of healings, encounters, and supernatural occurences around the world. I pray that this is the year we all see God’s power in our own backyard.

Our faith will be built up as we step out of our comfort zones. Our walk with God will be evident as we yield to the Holy Spirit. The church will experience an awakening as we unite together. And we will see revival in our nation when we all uplift the name above all names JESUS!
