Don’t allow the fire in your heart to go out. Keep it burning!

When you start a campfire it needs to keep burning throughout the night. The fire needs to be maintained and one primary way is by fanning the flames.

Fire requires oxygen to burn, and by fanning the flames, you increase the flow of oxygen to the fire, which helps it burn more vigorously.

The same goes for the fire in our soul that God ignited. That fire which symbolilzes the Holy Spirit and can give us zeal. We need to fan the flame to keep it going.

I remember the first time I heard “you’re on fire” or “ that dude is on fire for the Lord” I was 16 years old. It was an expression that this person had so much zeal for the things of God. That girl or guy loves Jesus so much that their faith is evident by just being around them. Today it’s easy to tell who is on fire meaning who really is seeking the Kingdom of God first and has the zeal to walk in their calling.

You can have that fire in your heart or maybe you already do.

I believe this is simple but yet powerful. You need to be intentional in order to keep the fire burning!

Here it is:

In order to fan the flame of the Holy Spirit you need to keep God’s word in your heart. So the fire in you won’t go out you need to keep the Word of God in your heart. In fact you need to hunger and thirst.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.” — Matthew 5:6

To hunger after the bread of life, to thirst for living water is a blessing. Jesus promises he will fill the person who hungers and thirsts for him. To hunger and thirst for godliness and be more like Jesus everyday. He will fill the person who wants to further the Kingdom of God, who wants build up the church, who hungers to see lives tranformed. He will do it!

You want you’re fire to burn more vigorously? than you must hunger and thirst daily for the one that keeps it burning. You spend time in his word, in your secret place, in the presence of The Holy Ghost and ask him to fill you, to fill you, to fill you and he will do it. He has for me and he will for you.

There is freedom when God’s word sets your heart on fire. Like Jeremiah could not stay quiet about God’s word because it burned inside him.

“…His word was in my heart like a burning fire
Shut up in my bones;
I was weary of holding it back,
And I could not.” — Jeremiah 20:9b
